The main rule of blackjack is to hold a hand that is of more value than that of the dealer. The value of your hand should however be as close to 21 as possible but not past it. Just like any other casino game, it starts with the player placing a bet. Right after the dealer will be dealt two cards and so will you. From there, you can either stand, hit, take insurance or double down the cards.
One card is usually dealt facing up while the other faces down. If you get two cards either Ace or a ten valued one; also known as a natural blackjack you win automatically. Before you determine the next move after the cards are handed over, evaluate your position. Ace is worth 1 to 11 and card 10 through king is worth 10.
Dealers also have rules they abide to. In most versions, they stand with a card hand value of 17 or more. However, if the hand’s value is 16, he/she may be required to take more cards until it surpasses 17. All players then show their hand and if it any is valued higher than that of the dealer they win.
